Back to school, back to the prototyping

Continuing to rework the form, angle and shape of the tube-trees has been an interesting challenge. Connection details are becoming more refined and strong, additional layers of tubes have been added to the trees and the production line of work has begun. As we've been working with several new prototypes of the model, we've also begun exploring at a 1:1 scale our additional layer of design that, currently, is developing into fabric sails. Creating voids and masked parts among the branches with this layer, a new dynamic is being explored as we begin to work towards creating an entire courtyard filled with our fabricated trees.

Concept Sketch - FIELD OF DREAMS

So kind of building on Piper's idea that she presented, as I think so far it brings the most positives.  I see it making people remain in the site, contribute, and leave an impression upon the visitor. But what I'm presenting is another layer beyond the written idea.  I think it would be amazing if we kind of played off of the idea of stumbling into this world that is abnormal within a small alley in Toronto, we kind of create this dream world where we have a third ethereal layer.  The layer I am proposing would be a string, or tube or something (preferably sculpt-able) that would be dyed in fluorescent paints. We would use black lights (not too expensive, I checked) mounted above peoples head level and projected towards the strings, allowing them to have an ethereal glow.  The layer would really allow people to be wowed (shiny shit does that) and allow them to ignore our not so attractive tree.

From there, I was thinking of having strings hang down, with a light attached at the end, illuminating towards the ground in which people attach their dreams, ambitions, secrets, jokes, whatever the fuck to, leaving a piece of themselves within this 'dream world'

So ignore the shitty illegibility of this drawing, I did it as I was waiting for images to export.  It was really going to be for my eyes only, but what they hell.  Anyways, the red represents the illuminated field of flourescent wire/string.  The green things hanging are the string with the cards hung on them.
The blue represents the light at the end.  I am thinking maybe we build the string out of silicon tubing which we could thread the wire to the LED light at the end, creating a pretty easy system that would look sweet.

I Think there are a lot of possibilities that this concept presents, and if done carefully could be sexy as hell.  Let me know what you think.
